Why园林？Why生态？Why园林？ 园林是个“土词”——“土生土长”的词。 中国几千年的历史留给我们“园林”一词。老祖宗的成果不仅是雕梁画栋，还有理念，这是全世界独一无二的。因此找不到任何一个与“园林”对等的英语翻译。于是我们有了一个舶来品——“景观”，译自landscape。在“景观”一词铺天盖地的时候，选择“园林”，理由很简单——地方性“土词”可以大大节约能源和资源消耗，包括减少解释——中国人都明白；少用翻译——结合我们独有的理论，吸收国内外的实践经验而不仅仅是翻译；并能自身繁衍——在中国一脉相承的文化土壤上与时俱进。

点击查看全部回复（3条）Nature is conquered by man and at the same time nature is reconquering the land reclaimed by man——a constant battle.
This attitude has caused sever environment damage and huge costs: control always causes new threats which again increases the need for more control.
Landscape architecture is not about the beautiful design of plantings as a discipline, it is mediating between nature and culture, combining biological sciences with elements of engineering and art.
Let’s make a visionary leap:
Instead of trying to control the natural dynamics towards a static state let’s try to get nature working for us!

Design with nature. Balance land use impacts of development and landscape tolerances.
Potential habitats for several animals are rare, restricted, or endemic to the region.
